The Department of Health and Kinesiology offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology. Students interested in teaching physical education or coaching athletics can earn a specialization in physical education. A specialization in exercise science is also an option for students majoring in Kinesiology. The exercise science option prepares student for public and private sector employment in the health and fitness industry, clinical exercise (obesity prevention and management, cardiac rehabilitation, etc.), and sport and exercise psychology. Exercise science students frequently apply to graduate studies in exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology, motor learning and control, biomechanics, physical therapy, and athletic training. The culminating experience in the exercise science specialization is an internship with a professional business or agency. During the internship semester students gain practical experience applying the knowledge and skills acquired during their academic training.
